TOKYO: MUTEKIYA RAMEN - Best ramen in Tokyo

If you're in Tokyo, don't forget to check out MUTEKIYA in Ikebukuro!!!
I don't claim to be an expert in ramen, but this place is NEEDS to be recommended!
This ramen stall not only offers the BEST broth I've tasted, it is also extremely friendly to the pocket!
Just a little information, the broth is boiled for more than 12 hours, so you can already imagine how heavenly it would taste like!

Here's most basic ramen on the menu costs about ¥800!? (= SGD $8.80?!)
P/S I finished this in less than 10mins!!!! SLURPS*

Best thing is, Mutekiya offers the same price for regular portion (150g) and large portion (230g) noodles. I ordered an extra ajitsuke tamago which screams perfection. Honestly, this broth is the best I've tasted, the noodles are extremely fresh but personally, I'd prefer Ichiran's noodles because I am a fan of thinner noodles! Taste wise, this broth is so much more flavourful (than Ichiran)
The queue itself explains the hype of Mutekiya both well loved by locals and tourists alike.
This place is so underrated, compared to big names like Menya Musashi/ Ichiran (although it's pretty good as well)/ Ippudo. A definite stop for me whenever I'm in Tokyo to satisfy my ramen cravings.

No matter what time of the day, this place is always busy with a queue! If you're in a hurry, I wouldn't recommend you to join in the queue because sometimes it takes more than 30mins (depending on the time of the day)!

Just FYI, this place closes at 4am (but JR lines closes by midnight), so this benefits locals who have their own transport.

  • Address: 南池袋1丁目17-1Ikebukuro East Side, Ikebukuro Station
  • (Nearest Station is JR line Ikebukuro Station, about a short 3-5mins walk)
